Captain Brookes A. Williams

Captain Brookes Williams is a native of St. Paul, MN. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Nursing in 2001. Prior to joining the Navy, CAPT Williams worked as a staff nurse on a cardiac stepdown unit at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital, Mankato, Minnesota and the Emergency Department at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, University Campus in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She commissioned an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps in 2003.
She served on the Internal Medicine Ward and later in the Emergency Department at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia until deploying with Expeditionary Medical Facility Portsmouth to Kuwait in 2004, where she promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. Moving overseas to 3D Medical Battalion, Okinawa, Japan in 2005, Lieutenant Williams deployed in support of Combined Medical Relief Team Three to Shinkiari, Pakistan. In 2007 she reported to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA, and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in 2009 as a member of the Joint Theater Trauma Team. Her passion for operational nursing led her to accept orders to Fleet Surgical Team Three, San Diego, California in 2010. While assigned, she deployed on a Western Pacific deployment with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group in 2011 and promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 2012.
After three years working with the surface Navy, she returned overseas in 2013 and spent two years at U.S. Naval Hospital Naples, Italy. Her interest in the operational mission steered her to the role of Medical Programs Training Officer at Marine Corps Training and Education Command, Quantico, Virginia in 2015. Returning to the Military Treatment Facility in 2018, she served as the Chief of Emergency Nursing, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
In 2021, she was selected as the Director for Public Health Services, Naval Health Clinic Quantico, Virginia. From June 2023, she served as the Executive Officer for Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Bethesda and will report to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Quantico in May 2025 to serve as Commanding Officer.
Concurrently while on active duty and assigned to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, she earned a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science Summa Cum Laude from California University of Pennsylvania in 2009.She also completed her Master of Science in Nursing in Advanced Emergency Nursing while stationed at Marine Corps Training and Education Command in 2016, and is dual board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I through the Naval War College in 2018 and attained the Certificate in Healthcare Modeling and Simulation through Naval Postgraduate School in 2019.
CAPT Williams’ personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (one gold star), Joint Meritorious Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and several campaign medals and unit awards. She is married to Rob and has two children, Alex who is six and Madi who is four.
